Why I teach Breathwork/Pranayama in every class I teach

The breath is at the heart of our yogic journey. By returning to the awareness of our breath, we anchor ourselves in the present moment, reconnect with our true essence, and find steadiness as we move through the asanas. Scientific studies show that breathwork is one of the quickest and most tangible ways to soothe our stress responses. In the fast-paced world we live in, many of us remain in a state of fight-or-flight longer than necessary. Breathwork allows us to gently guide our bodies back to a place of harmony.

I believe conscious breathwork is often more effective than meditation, especially for those with busy minds, ADHD, or anxiety. It calms the mind, soothes the nervous system, and fosters presence without the overwhelm that meditation can sometimes cause. Breathwork offers a gentle entry into mindfulness.

I love to include pranayama at the start and end of my classes to provide a practical tool to steady the mind, to help ground us and harness our life force energy. I believe that the power of breathwork is often un utilised. I hope this message inspires you to explore the sacred realm of breathwork.

I look forward to sharing some of my favourite techniques with you in class, as we journey together toward our omnipresent inner peace and harmony.

All my love, Shannon
